Denali is a very sweet and calm adult female Golden Retriever Shepherd mix whose family has been forced to move to another state for a job transfer. For the time being Denali’s family must live in an apartment which does not allow pets. The family has already relocated and Denali was left behind. The house has not been sold so the Denali is in the fenced backyard with a caretaker visiting her twice a day for feeding and watering, etc. However, once the house is sold, this is no longer an option and Denali will need a new family and home.
Five years ago Denali’s family rescued an abandoned dog who, as it turned out, was pregnant. A short time later 8 puppies were born. Homes were found for the mother and 6 puppies, but alas placing the two remaining pups was not to be, so Denali’s family took them in as their own.
Denali has always been around 3 other dogs (one male, 2 female, all spayed/neutered.) She is an outside dog and only came in when the weather was too cold. Denali has been allowed to come through the back door and she would go straight to the laundry room where she and the other dogs would stay on cold nights with a baby gate at the door. Denali has not been crated but does well in a small room.
Denali would do very well where she is given the attention she deserves. A fenced back yard would be a good idea as she is used to staying outside a lot. She has always been one of many, and if she got the individual attention she deserves she just might bloom.
Denali is a very sweet, calm, happy dog and loves to be petted and brushed. She is a follower, not a leader. She always lets the other dogs go first. Denali is on the shy side until she gets to know you. Her family could never get her to sit like her brother, she would always spin. So they were called the "sit 'n spin" twins.
Denali likes to chew bones, and loves attention. As a rule she is more calm then bouncy playful. She is housetrained, but has not been crate trained, leash trained, or learned her basic commands... yet! She is current on all shots and clear of heartworms. Denali has been spayed and is healthy.
Denali is an independent rescue supported by DogsOnly. She will not be available to meet every Saturday except for major holiday weekends at the DogsOnly adoption showing at Petco on Chenal Parkway across from Target and Home Depot.
To learn more about Denali you should contact her rescuer directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or complete an online adoption application by clicking the orange colored text links at the top or bottom of this page.
Please don’t be tempted to adopt Denali on an impulse. You should take the time to carefully consider the long term commitment, expense, and passion it takes to give her the home she deserves. She’ll reward you with unbounded love and devotion, but you must be committed and serious about your decision to bring her into your life. Remember, this is an adoption, not a sale, and we’re very serious about making sure that both you and Denali are a good match for each other..
